Hey out there in blogging land!

I have some issues to discuss but please dont tell my mom I was on the computer. She doesnt know that I can use it.

1. I am tired of her ALWAYS checking my eyes, ears and butt. Yeah, I am tilty but she doesnt need to do it all the time.

2. She makes me these really weird cookies with ground flax seed and echinacea. She says its for my "moon" system. I dont know what that means but I prefer oreos or chocolate chip.

3. Would you talk to her about getting right in my face when she gets out of bed. The combination of morning breath and coffee is gross. She could at least brush her teeth first.

4. I really really hate all the nicknames: Havens Mcgruder, Old Man, Sugar Bear, Bamalam Black Bunny, Funny Face, Sweetie Pie Bunzes, the list goes on and on. What am I? 2 years old?

5. Could you ask her to stop using that loud sucky thing to pick up poops. I am not fond of it. Besides, they are nice poops, why doesnt she just leave them laying around.

6. I dont like her singing. Its bad bad bad. I dont mind when the "nephew" plays his guitar for me. That's kinda nice cept the other day he played something called "Dueling Banjo's". It made me very nervous and I am not sure why.

7. She always leaves the cartoon channel on for me when she goes to work. I prefer to watch the Food Network or ESPN. Again, am I a baby? Cartoons are for kids.

8. I would appreciate her not falling asleep on the floor with me. Her snoring is traumatizing. I have been trying to toss poops in her mouth while she is flopped next to me looking like a fish out of water.

9. What's up with all the hay? Everywhere I look there is a pile of hay. She keeps saying "Haven you have to eat your hay" . Jeez, alright already I am eating it.

10. The bumpers on my leaning box are for babies. Elephants, puppies, Winnie the Pooh. Come on, put up some pictures of hot girl bunnies.

11. I would appreciate if she stopped changing clothes in front of me. That's all I have to say about that. There are some things bunnies should NOT see.

Crap here she comes, gotta go.

If you would........

Would everyone please pop over to http://heartlandbunnyblog.blogspot.com/ and read Jimmy and Amara's story please. Pretty Please.

A Love Story

Once upon a time, about three years ago, there was a girl named Christina, she was lonely for a furry creature. She decided a bunny was the companion for her. She didnt know any better and went to a backyard breeder. What she saw there nearly broke her heart. She wanted to run, she wanted to scream, she grabbed two bunnies and got the hell outta there. She put the bunnies in a hutch in the backyard, again she didnt know any better. She began to search on the net. She came across a bunny rescue called Heartland Rabbit Rescue and then her whole life changed.

She was informed that her buns needed to be moved indoors and they were. She was told that her girls needed to be spayed and they were. She was told their diet was very important, so she changed, that they could be trained to use a litter box, so they did. Christina was so grateful for their help she decided to start volunteering there. That's when the story really begins.

Over time more bunnies came into her life. Dudley from an idiot coworker who decided he wasnt her kind of "pet". Nemo from a pet store who was going to be snake food because of a head tilt.Stewart from the rescue, who had a pretty severe case of Malocclusion and stole Christina's heart when he snuggled into her chest and fell asleep and Haven, precious Haven. An older bun with severe head tilt, weepy eyes and and weak hind legs. He took her heart in a whole different way.

Christina fell in love with each and every bunny at Heartland. The North Warren (hospital) bunnies in particular squeezed her heart. She will never forget Ben, a tiny little bun, wheezing while he ate, looking in her face with an expression that seemed to say "I am small but mighty". Her first sponsor bun Cooper is the last bunny in the pictures above. Cooper was 12 years old, blind and slightly arthritic when he went to the bridge a few weeks ago. She will miss him. Each and every bunny is special to her.

The number of bunnies at the rescue is currently around 80. Everyday Momma Jeannie has to feed and water, check their health, give out meds and try to give a little attention to each and every bun. There are buns that are partially paralyzed, Their girl Sally had to have a back leg amputated recently, there are head tilt bunnies, old bunnies, young silly bunnies and lovely husband and wife bunnies.

Christina knows how tiring this must be to Momma Jeannie sometimes. The struggle to keep going everyday. To listen to people who call and say they are tired of their bunnies and want to "get rid of it". The ones who call and say their dog killed their rabbit and when can they come get a new one. Yeah right, that's gonna happen. The bunnies that are returned after extensive time at their homes without a backward glance.

None of this matters really, because this is a love story. Not just Christina's love story but everyone who volunteers at Heartland and everyone who loves a bunny. When we get a new volunteer, we take bets on how long it will be before they decide they "must" adopt a bunny. It is a wonderful disease that spreads quickly. There will be bunnies at Heartland who are never officially adopted but they have forever homes. Their home is at the rescue. They will always know safety, kindness, full tummies and the love of so many who care.

Visit our site sometime: Heartlandrabbitrescue.org and Happy Valentine's Day to all. Love your bun, kitty, dog, horse, goat, fish, hamster, bird and all your people too! Give them all extra snuggles and love for the sake of the ones who may never know it.

DONT BUY, DONT BREED! ADOPT AN ANIMAL INSTEAD.

Who dat talkin bout beatin dem saints?

For those of you who dont watch football or dont care or cant figure out why I am posting this: patience please!

I grew up watching my dad, brothers, cousins and uncles watching LSU and the Saints play. The game last night was awesome! What a win for the Saints and for New Orleans. I have a special place in my heart for that city, always will.

For those of you that have never been, yes New Orleans is a city with a dark history but it is unlike any other city in the U.S. I swear even the sidewalks breathe. There is no place where the people are nicer, the food better, the music sweeter and football is religion.

Dear my darling brother Forrest;

It's the simple things that I miss talking to you about. I missed watching the game with you last night. BUT WE DID IT BABY! I hope where you are the beer was ice cold, the oysters were fresh and they have your favorite cigars! I could picture your face last night, watching the city and the team you loved take the glory.

Love you and miss you forever!

CONGRATULATIONS NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA AND THE SAINTS. WE LOVE YOU!

Simple Things in My Life

Over at http://chrisalba-enchantedoak.blogspot.com/2010/02/let-challenge-begin.html they are doing a little challenge that will help the people of Haiti. Make a list of simple pleasures or a poem. For everyone that does this they will donate $2 to Haitian relief. This is easy for me because I have so much to appreciate. Here goes.

Bunnies (big surprise there huh?)

The smell of burning leaves

When my feet are warm

Coffee brewing in the morning

Something warm and sweet right out of the oven

The very first flower in my yard that comes up in spring

Sincerity

My arms, legs and mind work

The fat around the back of a baby's knee

When the Robins come back in the spring
